"This is a strong and substantial male, over medium-size,
harmoniously built with very good chest and excellent angulation.
Fluid, reaching and powerful gait, strong back. Lively temperament
with excellent courage and excellent defense reaction. Lively, alert,
good natured, and fearless. Height 25.2 inches, weight 98 pounds.
Color: Black and tan. Teeth very strong, back very strong, depth
of chest very good. The shoulder is very good, but deviates slightly
from correct position. Moves slightly narrow behind. Breeding
advice: Linebreeding on the C-litter vom Hain and especially on Fels Vogtlandshof
must be avoided under any circumstance."

Physical Characteristics (standing): Height: 25 1/2 inches. Weight: 97 lbs. Length: 31 inches. Depth: 12 1/4 inches. Chest Circumference: 33 1/4 inches. Body: typy, substantial, medium size, dry. Presented in good condition. Topline: Clean well carried neck. Long, well formed sloping croup. Fore and Rear Legs: Rear legs straight and strong, front legs not quite ideal. Feet slightly long. Chest and Fore Chest: Chest well developed.
Temperament: Test I: Normal. Test II: Normal. Test III: Normal. Observations After Tests: Confident, fearless, alert.
Head and Expression: Head: Noble, strong. Ears: Well placed, well formed. Eyes: Well placed, well formed, dark. Teeth: Full dentition, correct bite. Jaws: Strong.
Angulation: Rear Angulation: Well angulated. Shoulder Angulation: Well placed and well laid back.

"Troll could have been one of the
Axel sons that they might have preferred to keep in Germany but he was
rangy, there was the ear problem and I think some softness in pasterns
that the Germans were moving away from. In North America there were a
lot of bitches that compensated for his weaknesses and needed what he
had to give. It showed up in the progeny that he produced, many several
champion litters.
Troll von Richterbach was the outstanding show dog to arrive
in the late fifties. He looked lean and rangy, his ears flipped as he
moved, he probably had some responsibility for bringing in the flipping
soft pasterns too but he was very sound coming and going. He looked balanced
moving with a firm back, extending his legs well out in front with a good
follow through in the rear. He was supposed to be a shoo in to become
Canadian Grand Victor in 1957 but it rained that year. The show went inside
to a rather small ring. Troll could not get untracked and his half brother
Ch Ero von Awallenberg was made Grand Victor. Troll did win the American
National though to become American Grand Victor.
As a stud dog he was almost an instant success, some ears
on his progeny did not come up which might have been expected but the
temperament he produced was excellent, good workers and basically sound
animals."
