GSDC of Houston--October 27th, 1985--- Puppy Bitch (9-12)---Winners Bitch---Best of Breed

"I have rarely, if ever, put a 10 month old bitch to Best of Breed. This one deserved it and could not be denied. She had a lovely correct outline and balance; stylish, feminine with lovely head and expression. She and the BOS dog--Boken Kamp's Axelon v Winsmoor--were much alike in The bitch went over the dog on her more harmonious fore-assembly viewed from the front-on. This was not an easy decision as the bitch had won the major and in dogs it was not a major. They were both exceptional. But I do not believe in judging on sentment or "spreading the wealth". A judge should select strictly on the "best of the day," in my opinion, and that's what I did. The owners of the BOS were very gracious and understanding. I apprecitate that. My bitch has a plaush coat as does the Winner's Dog without being "soft". I hope her coat which waves on her back does not detract from her outline in her photos. I would expect and outstanding career for "Havana".
