2022 Prize Money

The AKC stipulates that a club holding a futurity or sweepstakes may retain 50% of the entry fee for expenses.  The balance of the entry fee is to be used as prize money, and it is up to the club to decide how the prize money is distributed.

For the 2021 show season, the total cost to show in a Futurity/Maturity was $30.  Of this $30 participation fee, $20 was a registration fee, and $10 was the entry fee.  50% or $5.00 of each $10 entry fee was used as prize money.   Per the GSDCA Futurity/Maturity rules, a regional Best In Futurity won 60% of the prize money from that region’s Futurity entries and Best Opposite Sex won 40%. The Maturity prize money was divided in the same manner.

The prize money checks are made out to the first owner on the entry form and mailed by the GSDCA treasurer to the address listed on the entry form.  The responsibility of the division of prize money is up to the co-owners in accordance with their co-ownership agreement.  The responsibility of providing the correct address on the entry form is that of the person making the entry.  Prize money checks must be cashed within 90 days and will not be reissued.  Uncashed checks will be considered a donation to the Futurity System.
