The Red Book
Published by the GSDCA
Red Books are your source for the latest in health, genetics and nutrition as well as serving as a "Year in Review". The Red Book is invaluable to 'novices' and 'oldtimers' alike as a reference for seeing who was winning, for researching pedigrees and in seeing who 'clicks' with whom!
The Red Book, one of the best educational tools available
in the breed today, could be called the "Year in Review" for
the German Shepherd Dog. It includes three "Top Twenty" sire
and dam sections for each specific year:
- Based on progeny placing at GSDCA Regional
Futurity/Maturity
shows (once a year shows held in 9 geographical areas for GSDCA member-bred
litters)
- Based on progeny winning at AKC major pointed shows
awarding
3 or more championship points.
- Featuring outstanding Lifetime Producers - the Top Twenty
living Register of Merit Sires and Dams.
The Red Book also features reports from standing GSDCA
committees such as:
- Health and Veterinary information specific to
the German Shepherd Dog
- Annual Training Achievement Award: Statistics
regarding sires and dams of those German Shepherd Dogs who have attained
titles in the performance arena: Obedience, Herding, Schutzhund, Agility,
etc.
- Thirteen Club: Honoring German Shepherd Dogs who
have attained this age milestone with statistics regarding the producers
of these senior citizens of the German Shepherd world.
- Award of Excellence: Honoring those German Shepherd
Dogs who have achieved the ultimate distinction of superior conformation,
intelligence and trainability, good temperament and physical
soundness.
plus MUCH, MUCH MORE!
Why is it called the "Red Book"? Because the
cover is Red!
