Diane Mehra will be arranging the Judges Education Seminar to be held on Tuesday October 16, 2007 at the show site. Anyone interested in judging a futurity must have attended the seminar prior to Board approval to be a judge per the policy and procedure manual. We encourage all who are interested in the Breed, to attend. It never hurts to brush up on the Standard. If you are already an expert we could use your help.
Judging Procedures-the latest article which has been posted to the Education site for use by members and as a program for club meetings or in their newsletters for the education of the members.
Articles are submitted on a semi-monthly basis to the AKC gazette and to the GSD Quarterly and periodically published in the GSD Review.
Requests have been made of Nancy Harper-Futurity Chairperson and Nikki Bunch- Regional Club liaison to contact clubs and request assistance in arranging a site to hold a second judges education seminar. This year we would like to have a club in the Northeast help us as with the National in Colorado this year and next year in Texas we would like to give people the opportunity to attend without extensive travel.
FREE DVD’s of last year's seminars are available to members, regional clubs and those presenting seminars. The DVD’s contain materials on how to properly conduct a temperament test when judging, methods of evaluating the German Shepherd Dog, origin and purpose for which the Breed was developed, etc. If you would like one please contact helengleasonus@yahoo.com .
Dr Beverly Brimacomb-noted reproduction veterinarian from Lakeland Florida will be the presenter for the Educational Program on Wednesday evening. It will be held at the Best Western Hotel near the show site. If you have any questions that you would like to have addressed please forward them to me and we will be sure that Dr. Brimacomb reviews all of them.
