Debbie Hokkanen reported on a very successful National which was held in Lake
St. Louis. The Board visited the Ocean Center, the 2003 National Site in
Daytona Beach on Friday afternoon. The Board is enthusiastic about this site
as it has a generous amount of space for the conformation ring and can also
house the obedience in a very large room that can accommodate several
regulation size rings for obedience and agility during the National Specialty.
At this time the 2003 Futurity and Maturity finals are planned for Tuesday
afternoon commencing at 4:00pm at the 90th GSDCA National Specialty on October

Review.
There will be NO advance brochure this year but the information will be placed
in the National Attention Column in the Review each month and on the GSDCA
website. This will allow for the information to reach the members in a timely
way and it will result in the information being more accurate than it has been
in the advance brochure. Plans are for the show hours at the National to be
8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Search and Rescue Dogs will be recognized in the Parade of Greats if they meet
the criteria adopted by the GSDCA Board. Criteria will be printed in a future

Debbie Hokkanen announced that this will be her last year as National Show
Chairman. Each year Debbie has included a request in the Review and appealed
at multiple Board meetings for interested parties to step forward and
familiarize themselves with the requirements and the job of a National
Chairman. The announcement was made at this time to be proactive in securing a
future National Show Chairman. She asked that the Board look at this
announcement as "Succession planning" creating insurance that the GSDCA
continues to remain a strong force at the National front. It is important that
the transition be done smoothly during this year. Debbie will continue to be a
resource for that individual in future years. Ken Downing asked that Debbie
Hokkanen retain the Chairmanship of Show Sites and Board meeting sites. Debbie
accepted this chairmanship. All interested parties should contact Debbie
Hokkanen Phone 508 852 4473 Fax 508 852 1067 or Ken Downing, Phone 913 845
