1953 Register of Merit Dam

"In April of 1954 the first Register of Merit list was published. It was compiled by Margaret M. Megahan and consister of 23 bitches, 11 of whom were champions. The record compilated were from 1941 through 1953, just like the process done with the beginning of the ROM sires. Ch. Carol of Ruthland ROM headed the list with nine offspring and 150 points. That is all the list provided in the early days. It gave no names of any progeny. Carol was bred four times to John Gans' Double German Sieger and U.S. 1937 and 1938 GV Ch. Pfeffer v Bern ROM. Four of her offspring were well known. Nineteen fourty-one and 1944 GV Ch. Nox of Ruthland ROM was owned by breeder Paul Tishman, and later anthony Natoli. Nineteen fourty-two GV Ch. Nobel of Ruthland was owned by Henry Daube; and 1945 GV Ch. Olga of Ruthland was owned by Mrs. Patrick Moran. Paul Tishman was also the breder of 1940 GV Ch. Lady of Ruthland, who was out of 1936 GV Ch. Frigga v Kannenbackerland. Lady was owned by John Gans of Hoheluft fame. The other progeny we have found are: Ch. Norah of Ruthland, Ch. Odin of Ruthland, Ch. Sandra of Ruthland, and Tempest and Tim of Ruthland. All of these winners were full brothers and sisters."
