Typically regional clubs have multiple audiences:

  • Members as well as current GSD owners and new GSD puppy buyers who are the best candidates for new members.
  • The not-yet-member-audience needs to FIND the website before they can find out more about the Club.

Tips for Getting Your Website on Page 1 or Page 2 of the Search Engines (Google, Bing, and Yahoo)

  1. Do a little research to see how not-yet-members are going to look for you.  Typically this would probably include combinations of words like:
    - German Shepherd Dog(s), German Shepherd Puppy(ies)
    - Training (if you do training)
    - German Shepherd (Dog) Club

  2. Create a TITLE for EVERY page of your website (under 70 characters including spaces).  Each page's title should be mostly different but should include 'German Shepherd' for each one.  This might include something like 'German Shepherd Dog Club of City State | Training | Breeders | Dog Shows'. (The special character | is located above the backslash key on the upper right of your keyboard.)  This is used by the search engines to decide where to place your website in their searches.

  3. Create a DESCRIPTION for EVERY page of your website (under 159 characters including spaces). This might be like 'German Shepherd Dog Club of City/State has free pre-school puppy classes for puppies up to 5 months." This will tell people who you are and encourage them to visit your website.

All club reports for the Regional Club Challenge competition must be mailed to Gloria Sinclair by August 1, 2017.  Please check out the guidelines and form (see below) as they have both been updated for this year.  The guidelines and form can be found below.  If you need help or have questions regarding the RCC, please email Gloria Sinclair at This email address is being protected from spambots. Gloria Sinclair, Regional Club Challenge Chair

Awards are given to the Regional Clubs that participate in the Regional Club Challenge.  Points are given for various club activities on an annual basis.  Click here for Guidelines for the Regional Club Challenge and here for the Regional Club Challenge Entry Form.

The Regional Club Challenge

The mission of the Regional Club Challenge is to recognize the activities of the SDCA Regional Clubs and to foster growth through competition as well as the sharing of ideas and resources. In addition, the GSDCA Regional Club Challenge is eant to promote camaraderie among the individual members within the regional clubs associated with the GSDCA by encouraging competition with other clubs.  All GSDCA Regional Clubs who are in good standing (GSDCA yearly club dues have been paid) are encouraged to participate in the Challenge as well as all other activities proposed by the GSDCA Regional Club Committee. The Regional Club Challenge will award points to the Regional Club whose members compete in a variety of activities ranging from titles and awards to member recruitment.

Competition Year

The GSDCA Regional Club competition year runs from July 1st thru June 30th of each year. This will allow time for points to be compiled prior to the National.  Regional clubs may receive credit for events or titles earned during that time. Awards will be presented at the National to the “Best Regional Club of the Year” according to the size of club.

Small Club: 1- 25 Members
Medium Club: 26 – 60 Members
Intermediate Club: 61 – 99 Members
Large Club: 99 + Members

Regional Clubs are dog clubs that are members of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA). They offer specialty dog shows (just for GSDs) throughout the year and many also offer training and breeder referral services for German Shepherds. Regional clubs are a great resource for German Shepherd Dog owners looking to find training and like-minded GSD lovers as well as for people looking for a well-bred German Shepherd puppy.

Most Regional Clubs put on 1 or 2 dog shows per year which is a great place to network with other German Shepherd lovers and see what a specialty dog show is like. Regional Clubs are eager to meet new people that share the love of the German Shepherd, want to observe and perhaps exhibit and perhaps get involved with their local Regional Club.
